Washington-Liberty High School senior track and field standout Ian Naff recent participated in the Adidas Indoor Nationals high-school championships in Virginia Beach.
At that competition, Naff won the 400-meter race in 49.63 seconds in the Elite Boys Division. Also, he finished fourth in the 200 in 22.27.
At the previous Virginia High School League Class 6 the indoor state track and field meet during the winter season, Naff placed second in the state in the 500 as the ninth seed.
Naff was a regular top finisher in various events during the winter’s indoor season, and he likely will continue that trend during the spring’s outdoor campaign.
“He just keeps getting better,” Washington-Liberty coach John Bacon said about Naff.
Also at that national meet, the Washington-Liberty’s girls 4x100 relay placed fifth.
Such national high-school meets are sponsored by various shoe companies, so there are multiple meets to enter in different cities.
