The Optimist Club of Arlington was busy in recent weeks presenting grant funding to a number of sports leagues in Arlington, using proceeds earned from the club’s annual and popular Christmas-tree fund-raiser sales.
Teams and players from those leagues often volunteer each winter holiday season to help with the tree sales and lot.
Recipients of this year’s grants include the Arlington Soccer Association, the Youth Ultimate League of Arlington, the Yorktown Ice Hockey Club, Arlington Babe Ruth Baseball, Acorn Junior Rifle Club, Arlington Girls Softball Association and Washington-Liberty and Yorktown high school crew and lacrosse programs.
