O'Connell runners finish second in different conference meet races

Girls and boys teams each place eighth in competition

Bishop O'Connell's Molly Weithman had top finishes in hte 1,600 and 3,200 races in recent track and field meets.

Bishop O’Connell High School’s Anthony Lenzini and Connor Redfield had the highest finishes by any team members with seconds in different races in the boys Washington Catholic Athletic Conference track and field championships.

Lenzini was runner-up in the 3,200-meter race in 9:43.33. Redfield was second in the 400 (55.79). Lenzini was sixth in the 1,600 and Redfield ran on the third-place 4x100 relay. Also in the boys meet for O’Connell, Samson Ogunade was fourth in the shot put and the 4x400 relay finished fourth.

For the O’Connell girls in the WCACs, Molly Weithman was third in the 1,600 and 3,200 races and Mary Boniface was fourth in the discus and fifth in the shot.

Each O’Connell squad was sixth in the team standings.

At the previous Virginia State Catholic meet, the O’Connell girls finished second and the boys third.

For the girls, Weithman won the 3,200 (11:22.08) and was second in the 1,600, the 4x100 relay won, Chase Raymond was second in the 200, Samantha Rough was second in the triple jump and Boniface was third in the shot and discus.

For the boys, Lenzini was second in the 1,600 and 3,200, Cameron Lee was second in the 400, Redfield was second in the 200 and third in the 400, Austin Coleman was second in the discus, and the 4x100 relay won.
