Marymount women golfers win opening tourney of fall season

Saints pick up where they left off during 2023-24 campaigns

Last season, the Marymount University Saints women’s golf team became tops in two different leagues  by winning post-season tournaments.

Already this fall, the women won their first event of the season with a two-day, 36-hole 640 team score at the Shenandoah University Invitational to win that competition for the third straight year.

Kate Parson led Marymount with a second place finish individually, shooting 80-74-154. Noelle Jensen and Karry Lyu tied for fifth for the Saints, each shooting 78-80-158, Tinleigh Rusher tied for 10th, Eunce Chang tied for 16th and Peyton Kraras also played for the team, finishing in the top 20.

The Marymount women won the Centennial Conference tournament last season with a two-day, 36-hole 328-328–656 total on the Waynesboro Country Club course in Waynesboro, Pa.

Marymount graduate student Hunter Gillis shot 79-76–155 to win the individual crown by nine shots. Her 4-over second round included two birdies. She made three birdies in the first round.

Parsons tied for second with an 81-83–164 total. Jensen was sixth at 82-84–166, Rebecca Luchs 10th at 86-85–171 and Kraras shot 92-88–180 and was 12th.

The Centennial championship was Marymount’s third in four years.
