Marymount men's golfers open season with fifth-place finish

Last season, the Marymount University Saints men’s golf team won a post-season tournament and has begun the fall campaign with a fifth-place in another competition.

Jonas Zajicek shot a 79 and Chas Manion 81 to lead the Marymount men in their first event this fall.

The Marymount men won a title last season with a 36-hole, two-day total of 321-331–652 on the Golden Oaks Golf Club course in Fleetwood, Pa., to win the Atlantic East Conference crown. The conference championship was the team’s first in program history.

Leading Marymount individually was third-place finisher Manion with a 75-86–161 total. Also for Marymount, Roger Sauvage shot 82-80–162 to place fourth, Cameren Dawkins-Jones was seventh at 86-80–166, Zajicek tied for eighth at 82-85–167 and Jackson Newton was 17th at  82-95–177.

Manion was selected as the conference’s Rookie of the Year for his play during the spring, with Sauvage earning first-team honors and Dawkins-Jones and Zajicek second team.
