In Colonial Swimming League White Division opening-week action, the Fort Myer Squids lost to host Ashburn Farm, 238-213.
Multiple race winners for Fort Myer were Zachary Berner, Fincher Harper, Peter Sheehey, Miles Wright, Aileen Kee, Gabrielle Browne and Sasha Taylor. Single winners were Evelyn Logsdon, Caroline Libscomb, Owen Strong, Henry Stueck and Bruce Truong.
Berner, who swam this past college season as a freshman at Colgate University, set a team record in the 50-meter backstroke in 27.35, breaking his old mark.
The Fort Myer boys 15-18 relay of Berner, Diego Ramos, Cole Evans and Sam Strong set a team record of 1:54.49.
Other high-placing swimmers in individual events for the Squids were Ramos, Culhane Harper with two seconds, Jayden Gibbs, Presley Henderson, Helen Vogel, Paxton Nguyen, Sophia Bhave, Eloise Wright, Axel Smith, Isla Maguire, Alma McCarthy, Grier Bredenkamp, Jacob Oh, Andrew Adams, Clara McCarthy and Willa McCarthy.
The next meet for Fort Myer is Saturday, June 22 at 8 a.m. at Armfield Farm (1-0) in Ashburn in another White Division meet.
