Former Yorktown lacrosse players contributing in college sports

One plays for Division I team, others for Division III squads

Yorktown High School graduate Ainsley Burke is a sophomore lacrosse player at Coly College.

Yorktown High School graduate Ainsley Burke is a sophomore attack on the Division III Colby College women’s lacrosse team this spring.

In eight games so far, Burke has scored two goals, taken six shots and gathered six ground balls to help her team to a 7-3 record. She took a game-high three shots in a match against Hamilton College. 

As a freshman, Burke played in 19 games. She scored three goals, had four assists, took 13 shots and gathered 10 ground balls.

Yorktown graduate Carly LaPierre is a sophomore attack this spring on the Denison University Division III women’s lacrosse team. She has played in two matches so far this season.

As a freshman, LaPierre scored a goal and took a couple of shots.

At Yorktown, Burke and LaPierre were standout players and top scorers on the Patriots’ 2022 Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship team.

Another key member of the state-championship team was Emily Stafford, now a Division I college field hockey player for the  University of Pennsylvania team.

As a freshman midfielder this past fall, Stafford scored three goals, had two assists and took eight shots.
