To the editor: A year and a half ago, my family arrived in the U.S. and chose to live in Arlington. While the journey from Afghanistan has been challenging, we have met incredible people like Susan Cunningham along the way.
My family supports Susan Cunningham for Arlington County Board because she has already walked the talk in our community. It is rare to come across people who don’t have the same experiences as you, yet are able to empathize with you. Susan is one of them.
She is always in the community – present, engaged and accessible. She knows the issues – the good and those that need improvement, especially the big housing issues. She is informed and inclusive in her approach and treatment of others – always finding ways to help her fellow longtime and new Arlingtonians. She approaches problems with a creative, analytical and strategic mindset, always ensuring to learn all pieces of the puzzle.
We are confident that Susan brings a new set of experiences – ones that are based on her years-long engagement in the community, especially regarding housing issues, and ones that are based on her engagement with families and individuals who need guidance in navigating the system and resources – in small and big ways.
We are confident that if other residents face issues in our community and Susan learns of them, she will be available to help and connect them with the right people immediately.
Cunningham already has delivered to our people – old neighbors and new neighbors. She has a proven record of walking the talk.
She is our number one choice, and we hope she is yours as well. I am confident that she will deliver for all of us!
