Superintendent's budget proposal on the horizon

Final dollar amount will depend on how much is funneled from County Board

Arlington Superintendent Francisco Durán will present his fiscal 2024 budget proposal on Feb. 23, kicking off a nearly three-month process that is slated to culminate in a budget adoption on May 11.

In between, a public hearing will be held on Durán’s budget proposal on March 23. A week later, the School Board is expected to issue its own budget draft, which will be the subject of an April 25 hearing.

Most of the school system’s funding (about 80%) comes from the county government, so school officials will not know how much funding they have to work with until County Board members get a little further along in their budget process.
