Arlington County Board members on Feb. 18 agreed to permit the Shirlington Employment & Education Center (SEEC) to occupy space in the Arlington Mill Community Center for another four years.

The agreement gives SEEC ongoing access to an 845-square-foot office on the fourth floor of the center, located at 909 South Dinwiddie St. It supplants the previous lease, which was slated to run out on March 1.

As with the previous lease, the social-safety-net organization will not be charged rent for occupancy of the space, which is used to provide services to day-laborers and immigrant entrepreneurs.

SEEC previously had been headquartered in a variety of older buildings in the Shirlington area. It was slated to occupy the Arlington Mill space in March 2020, but that plan was abandoned owing to the onset of the pandemic. The organization ended up beginning services there two years later.

Like the old lease, the new one gives either party the option to terminate the agreement by giving 90 days’ notice.
