Snow next week? The chances are bleak . . .

Temperatures likely to be too warm when precipitation arrives Monday

We want to give you hope, Northern Virginia snow-lovers, we really do. But what limited chance there seemed to be for wintry weather next week seems to be fading.

With highs in the 60s Friday through Sunday [Feb. 9-11], it probably is just going to be too darn warm when precipitation arrives Monday for it to be anything but rain.

It likely will be cold enough Tuesday evening [Feb. 13], but by then the 36-hour burst of wet weather is likely to already have moved out of the area.

While that will bum out snow-lovers, the local region certainly has been enjoying un-February-like conditions this week. Thursday and Friday [Feb. 8-9] will serve up plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Saturday may bring the peak of warmth, but it will be accompanied by rain before things clear up Sunday and then return to rain Monday.
