Arlington Police Cpl. Jonathan Burgess, Capt. Rich Conigliaro, retired Capt. Kevin Reardon and Cpl. Juan Montoya assisted on April 10, 2023, as a scale model of the U.S. Navy’s USS Arlington was prepped for installation at the Ellen M. Bozman Government Center.

A scale model of the U.S. Navy’s USS Arlington is about to be berthed at its home port.

This afternoon (April 12) at 5 p.m. will mark an official ceremony celebrating installation of the model at the Arlington government’s newly renovated Ellen M. Bozman Government Center at 2100 Clarendon Blvd. The public is invited.

The USS Arlington Community Alliance and Arlington Historical Society supported creation of the model.

The actual USS Arlington – a 685-foot-long landing platform dock designed to speed supplies and U.S. Marines on humanitarian missions and to world trouble spots – was named to honor the community’s response the 2001 terrorist attacks. It was the third U.S. Navy ship in modern times to bear the name.

Installation of the model comes just a week after the 10th anniversary of commissioning ceremonies for the actual USS Arlington in Hampton Roads.
