The Youth Leadership Foundation on Sept. 16 held its 11th annual Race for DC Kids, sponsored by DRT Strategies of Arlington.

More than 115 individuals registered, with participants from across the region as well as runners who joined the race “virtually” from Detroit to Atlanta, and even a contingent of runners in England.

“This year’s race demonstrated that the future of youth mentoring in the nation’s capital is extremely bright,” said YLF executive director Janaiha Bennett. “From DRT Strategies to longtime supporters to first-year participants, we are thankful to those who showed up to support our mission of building character and a brighter future for young leaders.”

As of race day, the event raised more than $53,000 to support mentoring and leadership programs for youth in the metro area.

The Youth Leadership Foundation provides one-on-one, value-based mentoring programs for students aged 7 to 17 across the region. Serving more than 350 youth each year, it facilitates empowerment through joy, excellence and a spirit of service while building character, emphasizing personal growth and creating transformative mentorship experiences.
