Police: Altercation in Courthouse area turns into physical battle

One combatant was arrested and charged with robbery, destruction of property

On Jan. 30 at 7:03 p.m., two male acquaintances were conversing in the 2000 block of 14th Street North when the suspect allegedly stole the victim's phone from his pocket, Arlington police said.

A verbal dispute ensued and then escalated to a physical altercation, during which the phone was damaged, police said.

The victim sought assistance in a nearby building; responding officers located the suspect on scene and took him into custody. The victim sustained injuries described as minor and did not require medical attention, police said, while the suspect sustained injuries described as minor and was treated on scene by medics.

The suspect – 53-year-old Nana Kusi of no fixed address – was arrested, charged with robbery and destruction of property, and was held without bond.
