On April 30 at 5:48 p.m., a man was inside his home in the 900 block of South Dinwiddie Street when he heard a noise and observed a woman, who was known to him, attempt to enter through a window, Arlington police said.

The resident confronted the suspect, during which a struggle ensued. During the incident, the suspect struck the victim with a rock, brandished a knife and attempted to strike him with it, police said.

The victim left the home to seek assistance, at which point the suspect entered the home and took food and electronics before leaving, police said.

Responding officers located the suspect – 24-year-old Janae Lancaster of no fixed address – nearby. She was charged with attempted aggravated malicious wounding, assault-and-battery and burglary, and was held without bond.

The victim sustained injuries described as minor and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
