Nearly 1,100 Marymount University students will receive degrees during the institution’s 72nd annual commencement ceremonies next month, and Marymount officials have announced commencement speakers:

• Michael Powell, former chairman of the Federal Communications Commission and current CEO of NCTA, an Internet/television trade association, will deliver remarks at the College of Business, Innovation, Leadership and Technology commencement, to be held on May 19.

• Edward Bersoff, a retired military officer who previously worked at NASA and a leader in the government-contracting world for more than 50 years, will speak at the College of Sciences and Humanities commencement, to be held on May 20. Bersoff also currently serves as chairman of Marymount’s board of trustees.

• Dr. Rochelle Walensky, current head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will speak at commencement exercises for the College of Health and Education, to be held on May 21.

The ceremonies will include students who qualify for graduation from the fall 2022, spring 2023 and summer 2023 semesters, as well as students who graduated in summer 2022 but did not participate in last year’s ceremonies. Ceremonies will be held outdoors on the Converse Family Field on the university’s main campus in Arlington.
