Funeral details set for Arlingtonian killed in Marine training accident

Funeral arrangements for Washington-Liberty High School graduate Spencer Collart recently were announced.

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Washington-Liberty High School graduate Spencer Collart, a U.S. Marine corporal who was killed in a training accident last month.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, Sept. 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home at 4510 Wilson Blvd. in Arlington. The funeral service will be Monday, Sept. 25 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church at 2609 North Glebe Road in Arlington.

The graveside service will be held on Monday, Sept. 25 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. All attendees should arrive at the cemetery’s Memorial Gate between 10 and 10:15 a.m. for check-in procedures.

Collart died on Aug. 27 when the U.S. Marine corporal was a crew chief on an Osprey aircraft that crashed during military training exercises in Australia. He was one of three Marines killed on the aircraft; there were 20 survivors. The incident remains under investigation.

Collart graduated from Washington-Liberty in 2020, then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. At the high school, he was a defenseman and longstick midfielder for the boys varsity lacrosse team for two seasons.
