Thanks to a federal government appropriation spearheaded by U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (D-8th), PathForward will be able to pay off the mortgage on Sibert House, an eight-unit property that serves chronically homeless individuals who have faced significant housing barriers.

Federal funding totaling $1.34 million was secured to aid in the effort.

PathForward (then the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network, or A-SPAN) in 2019 purchased the circa-1941 garden-apartment complex in Westover Park, and has used it to support its mission.

“Handing the keys to newly housed clients is just the first step to stability and dignity for them,” said PathForward president/CEO Betsy Frantz. “To remain housed, they require individualized services including regular medical and mental healthcare and ongoing case management. Thank you to Rep. Don Beyer and his staff for leading this game-changing appropriation through the complex federal-approval process.”

The building was named to honor Kathy Sibert, the longtime executive director of A-SPAN.
