The Arlington County government’s effort to eliminate serious-injury accidents on the community’s highways and byways has not quite achieved its results, according to new data reported by the Arlington County Police Department.

And that may be particularly true when it comes to keeping pedestrians out of harm’s way.

Of the 146 vehicular crashes reported countywide in December, two included serious injuries (none with fatalities). A total of 11 involved pedestrians, according to police data.

The county government’s “Vision Zero” initiative aims to cut to zero the number of traffic fatalities and serious injuries through a coordinated approach. For information on the initiative, see the Website at bit.ly/47UCPx9.
