Del. Patrick Hope (D-Arlington) has been presented with the George F. Hixson Fellowship award from the Kiwanis Club of Arlington.

The presentation was made at a recent meeting of the club. It was bestowed on Hope by club member Tom Parker.

The award, established in 1983, is named in honor of George Hixson, the first president of Kiwanis International, and can be presented by clubs to members or those outside the organization.

“It’s a way of recognizing people who have contributed significantly to Kiwanis’ history of generosity,” Kiwanis International officials said of the award.

In order to present the award to an individual, a Kiwanis club must provide at least a $1,000 contribution to the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, which supports initiatives worldwide.

Hope is a member of both the Kiwanis Club of Arlington and Kiwanis Club of South Arlington service clubs.
