ROBBERY:

• On Jan. 11 at 11:55 a.m., a juvenile male was walking in the 1300 block of North Stafford Street when he was approached by another juvenile male, Arlington police said.

According to police, the suspect demanded the victim’s hoodie. A struggle ensued, during which the victim’s jewelry broke, police said.

The suspect then stole the jewelry, which was later recovered nearby. No injuries were reported.

A petition for robbery is pending for the juvenile suspect.

• On Jan. 18 at 6 p.m., a man entered a business in the 700 block of North Glebe Road, collected merchandise and attempted to exit the store without payment, Arlington police said.

Loss-prevention personnel confronted the suspect, who struck them before fleeing on foot, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing all-black clothing.

• On Jan. 18 at 7:03 p.m., two women entered a business in the 2900 block of Columbia Pike and collected merchandise when an employee confronted them, Arlington police said.

One suspect made threatening comments toward the employee, then both suspects exited the store with items and fled in a black vehicle.

The suspects are described as black females, in their late 20s.

ATTEMPTED GRAND LARCENY AUTO:

• On Jan. 17 at 10:08 p.m., a witness observed two men allegedly force entry into a vehicle parked in the 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard and called police, Arlington police said.

Responding officers located one suspect inside the vehicle and took him into custody, police said. During a search of the vehicle, burglarious tools were recovered, police said.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided false identification to officers, and items believed to be stolen were recovered from his possession, police said.

The suspect – 30-year-old Derrick Smallwood of no fixed address – was arrested and charged with attempted grand larceny auto, possession of burglarious tools, conspiracy to commit a felony, petty larceny and providing false identification to police.

The second suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. He is described as a male of unknown race, 5’7” to 6 feet tall, 150 to 190 pounds, wearing black shorts.

BURGLARY:

• On Jan. 13 at 12:32 a.m., a witness observed a man allegedly make entry into a closed business in the 3000 block of Clarendon Boulevard, then exit, Arlington police said.

A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers located the suspect in the area and took him into custody. No items were reported stolen from the business, police said.

The suspect – a 40-year-old man from Taneytown, Md. – was arrested and charged with burglary, obstruction of justice and public intoxication.

STOLEN VEHICLE:

• Arlington police on Jan. 16 reported that a silver 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Virginia plates was stolen on Jan. 12 from the 1700 block of North Uhle Street.

ARREST MADE IN DECEMBER STABBING:

• An 18-year-old Arlington man faces multiple charges stemming from a mid-December stabbing that occurred in the county’s Arlington Mill neighborhood.

On  Dec. 15 at 6:08 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Columbia Pike for a report of an adult male suffering from a laceration. Responding officers canvassed the area and located an additional adult male and a juvenile male also suffering from lacerations nearby, police said.

All three victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries reported as serious but ultimately non-life-threatening.

Kamron Tartt, 18, of Arlington, was taken into custody on Jan. 18 and was charged with malicious wounding by mob, conspiracy to commit a felony and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
