Co. Board candidate tapped for state leadership-training effort

Tony Weaver will participate in Sorensen Institute's Political Leaders Program

Tony Weaver, one of the six Democrats vying for Arlington County Board nominations in the June Democratic primary, has been accepted to attend the Sorensen Institute’s Political Leaders Program through the University of Virginia.

“I believe strongly in community service, and I am committed to doing everything I can to work with folks with a wide range of ideas and backgrounds to make a positive difference,” Weaver said in a statement.

The Sorensen initiative consists of participants from across the geographical and political spectrums of Virginia.

“This program will help me gain perspective and empathy for people with different viewpoints from my own,” Weaver said.

Also currently running for the two County Board seats open in 2023: J.D. Spain Sr., Jonathan Dromgoole, Maureen Coffey, Natalie Roy and Susan Cunningham. Voters will have their say on June 20.

Incumbent board members Katie Cristol and Christian Dorsey are not seeking new terms.
