Three Arlington youth will appear in the Traveling Players’ production of “Green Bird,” running Sept. 23 to Oct. 1 at locations across Northern Virginia.

Middle-school students Jayden Brown, Nora Read and Kaz Szwez will be in the cast of the production, based on Carlo Gozzio’s magical coming-of-age fairytale with a pop-culture twist.

The result is “a funny and fantastical adventure for the whole family,” producers said.

The production is an expansion of the original work, which was performed this summer at Traveling Players’ residential summer camp. It was set open on Saturday, Sept. 23 at noon at Reston Town Center in an abridged (45-minute), free production as part of the Reston Multi-Cultural Festival, but that even has been canceled owing to expected rainy conditions.

Full performances will be presented on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. at the Plaza at Tysons Corner Center; in case of ongoing rain, the show will move into the Traveling Players studio in the mall. Admission is free.

Performances also will be presented on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at Traveling Players studio. Tickets for these performances are $15.
