Arlington police stop results in gun, narcotics charges

Incident began with verbal altercation; Alexandria, Woodbridge men arrested

On May 2 at 5:38 p.m., a man and a woman known to each other were outside a residential building in the area of 24th Street South and South Kenmore Street when they became involved in a verbal dispute, Arlington police said.

During the incident, the man allegedly lifted his shirt to expose what appeared to be a firearm and made threatening statements to the woman, police said. The suspect then entered a vehicle with three other men inside and fled the scene, police said.

Responding officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 395 near Boundary Channel Drive. The occupants were detained without incident, police said.

During a search of the vehicle, who firearms and suspected narcotics were recovered, police said.

The first suspect – 34-year-old Alphonso Page III of Alexandria – was arrested and charged with brandishing, felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics. He was held without bond.

The other occupants of the vehicle – all men from Woodbridge, ages 27, 28 and 30 – were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics.
