Arlington GOP will have more money for outreach efforts this year

Party has moved past half-way point in fund-raising efforts

The Arlington County Republican Committee is halfway toward its $30,000 fund-raising goal for the year, party chair Matthew Hurtt said in a recent e-mail to the rank and file.

“Two generous supporters and longtime Arlington Republicans made a significant contribution of $5,000 to the Arlington GOP earlier this week,” Hurtt wrote on April 12.

While a major improvement from past fund-raising goals, Arlington Republicans still trail the county’s dominant Democrats in fund-raising prowess. But the funding likely will allow the party to send out mailers to voters as election season heats up.

The GOP remains on the hunt for both County Board and School Board contenders in November’s election.
