The Arlington County Democratic Committee has Georgia on its mind.

The political party’s Blue Families initiative is partnering with the activist group Reclaim Our Vote in an effort to boost Democratic turnout in what could be a pivotal state in the presidential election.

Arlington Democrats are being asked to sign up to write postcards to Georgia voters, encouraging them to participate in the state’s May 21 primary and June 18 runoff for local offices.

Those postcards will then be returned to a central location, where Blue Families and Reclaim Our Vote will mail them en masse to the Peach State.

“This is a great opportunity for first-time volunteers,” Arlington Democrats noted.

It could well be replicated ahead of the November election, where Georgia’s 16 electoral votes may prove pivotal to determining the next president.

Democrat Joe Biden eked out the narrowest of victories against Republican Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. This time out, Trump holds a lead in the most recent round of statewide polling.

Arlington Democrats also are using their political muscle to provide support in North Carolina, another battleground state.
