Arlington per-square-foot home prices dip but still high

County leads N.Va. pack, second to D.C. in region

The average per-square-foot cost of homes sold across Arlington during the first nine months of the year was slightly lower than during the same period in 2022, but remained highest among Northern Virginia localities.

That’s according to new data from Bright MLS as analyzed by the GazetteLeader.

From Jan. 1 to Sept. 30, the average price per square foot for Arlington residential sales was $472. That’s down 1.9 percent from $481 during the same stretch in 2022.

Throughout the metro area, Arlington was only surpassed in the ranking by the District of Columbia, whose average $527 cost per square foot was down 4.4 percent from a year before.

Across Northern Virginia:

• The average per-square-foot sales price in Alexandria was $459, up 5.3 percent from  $436.

• The average sales price in Falls Church was $416, down 7.6 percent from $450.

• The average sales price in Fairfax County was $346, up 2.7 percent from $337.

• The average sales price in Loudoun County was $275, up 2.6 percent from $268.

• The average sales price in Prince William County was $232, up 2.7 percent from $226.

Among the two major suburban Maryland jurisdictions:

• The average per-square-foot sales price in Montgomery County was $310, up 3 percent from $301.

• The average sales price in Prince George’s County was $242, up 2.1 percent from $237.

Across the Mid-Atlantic region as a whole, the average per-square-foot sales price for the first nine months of the year stood at $238, up 2.6 percent from $232, according to Bright MLS.
